The fount of salvation and the true life
From the treatise on The Admirable Heart of Jesus by Saint John Eudes, priest
(Lib 1,5: Opera omnia 6,7, 113-115)

I ask you to think that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly your head and that you are one of His members. He is for you as the head is for its members; all that is His is yours: spirit, heart, body, soul and all His faculties, and you must use all of them as something belonging to you, so that in serving Him you praise, love and glorify Him. As for you, you are for Him as a member is for the head, through which He desires to intensely use all your faculties as His own, to serve and glorify the Father.

And He is for you not only what we have just said; in addition He wants to be in you, living and dominating in you in the same way that the head lives in its members and governs them. He wants all that is in Him to live and have dominion in you; His spirit is your spirit, His heart is yours; all the faculties of His soul are in you, in such a way that in you may be realized those words: Glorify God with your body, and may the Life of Jesus manifest in you.

Equally,you are not only for Him the Son of God, but instead you must be in Him like the members are in the head. All that is within you must be inserted so to speak within Him, and from Him you must receive life and be governed by Him. Outside of Him you will not find true life, since He is the only Fount of true life; outside of Him you will only find death and destruction.

He is to be the only principle of all your activity and all your energies; you must live from Him and by Him, so that in you the following words may be fulfilled: None of us lives for our own selves and nobody dies for our own selves. If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord; in life and in death we are the Lord's. For this reason Christ died and resurrected: so as to be Lord of both the living and the dead.

You are, therefore, only one thing with Jesus, in the same manner as the members are one thing with the head, and for this, you must have with Him one spirit, one soul, one life, one will, one feeling, one heart. And He must be your spirit, your heart, your love, your life and all that is your own. All the greatness of the Christian has its origins in Baptism, is augmented and corroborated by the sacrament of Confirmation and by the good employment of all the other graces communicated by God, which in the Sacred Eucharist find their best complement.

PRAYER

O God, who chose Saint John Eudes to announce to the world the unfathomable riches of the mystery of Christ, grant us, we implore You, that, through his word and his example, we grow in the knowledge of Your Truth and we live always in accord with the Gospel. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

OUR FATHER

Our Father, Who Art In Heaven
Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Liberate us from all temptation[*]
And deliver us from all evil. Amen

[*] Liberate us is in keeping with the original Latin text.
       God usually does not "lead us" to temptation
       (unless we are tested),
       but gives us the grace to overcome and/or resist it

HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art though among women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mary of God
Pray for us sinners
Now, and in the hour
Of our death. Amen

APOSTLE'S CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the
[work and grace of the] Holy Ghost,[*]
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into the Dead.[**]
On the third day, He rose again;
He ascended into Heaven,
And sits at the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty.
From thence he shall come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost,[*]
The Holy Catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins.
The resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting. Amen

[*] Holy Ghost: may be substituted with the current Holy Spirit.
[**] the Dead: "inferi", the underworld or the dead in Latin.

GLORIA

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost[*],
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

DE PROFUNDIS

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord:
Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplication.

If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities:
Lord, who shall abide it.
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness:
and because of Thy law,
I have waited for Thee, O Lord.

My soul hath waited on His word:
my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning-watch even until night,
let Israel hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is mercy:
and with Him plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel
from all her iniquities.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost[*],
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

[*] Holy Ghost: may be substituted with the current Holy Spirit.

Pope Leo XIII, February 3, 1888)

Let us pray:
O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all
the faithful, we beseech Thee to grant
to the souls of Thy servants the remission
of their sins, so that by our prayers
they may obtain pardon for which they long.
O Lord, who lives and reigns,
world without end. Amen

May they rest in peace. Amen

PADRE NUESTRO

Padre Nuestro,
que estas en los Cielos
Santificado sea Tu Nombre;
Venga a nosotros tu Reino;
Hágase Tu Voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;
Perdona nuestras ofensas,
Como también nosotros
perdonamos a los que nos ofenden,
No nos dejes caer en la tentación,
y líbranos del mal. Amén

AVE MARÍA

Dios te salve, María,
llena eres de gracia;
El Señor es Contigo;
Bendita Tú eres
entre todas las mujeres,
Y bendito es el fruto
De tu vientre, Jesús.

Santa María,
Madre de Dios,
Ruega por nosotros
pecadores,
Ahora y en la hora
De nuestra muerte.

CREDO

Creo en Dios, Padre Todopoderoso,
Creador del cielo y de la tierra.
Creo en Jesucristo,
Su único Hijo, Nuestro Señor,
Que fue concebido por obra
y gracia del Espíritu Santo,
Nació de la Santa María Virgen;

escucha mi voz;
Estén Tus oidos atentos
a la voz de mi súplica.

Si llevas cuenta de los delitos, Señor,
¿quién podrá resistir?
Pero de ti procede el perdón,
y así infundes respeto.
Mi alma espera en el Señor.

Espera en su palabra;
mi alma aguarda al Señor,
más que el centinela la aurora.
Aguarda Israel al Señor.

Como el centinela la aurora;
porque del Señor viene la misericordia.
la redención copiosa;
y Él redimirá a Israel de todos sus delitos.

Gloria al Padre, al Hijo y al
Espíritu Santo,
como es desde el principio,
es ahora y será por los siglos de los siglos.
Amén
