Psalm 40:2
"There are people who we instinctively give less attention to, people who instead have most need of it: the most abandoned, the sick, those who have nothing to live on, those who do not know Jesus, young people who are in trouble, the young who canít find work. We should not be afraid to go out and look at our brothers and sisters through the eyes of Our Lady, She invites us to be true brothers. And we do not allow anything or anyone to come between us and the gaze of the Madonna."
Fragment from Homily by Pope Francis, Sept. 22,2013
Dearly beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. And every one that loveth, is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God: for God is charity.
1 John 4:7-8
For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat;
  I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink;
  I was a stranger, and you took me in:
  Naked, and you covered me:
  Sick, and you visited me:
  I was in prison, and you came to me.
Then shall the just answer him, saying:
  Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink?
  And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee?
  Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee?
Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren,
  you did it to me.
Matthew 25:35-40
And Jesus went about all the cities, and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease, and every infirmity.
And seeing the multitudes, he had compassion on them: because they were distressed, and lying like sheep that have no shepherd. Then he saith to his disciples, The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.
Matthew 9:35-40
Extend mercy towards others, so that there can be no one in need whom you meet without helping. For what hope is there for us if God should withdraw His mercy from us?
