He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood remains in Me and I in him.

Christ is the link of unity
From the Commentary on the Gospel of Saint John by Saint Cyril of Alexandria, Bishop (376-444)
(Lib. 11,11: PG 74, 559-562)

All those who participate in the sacred flesh of Christ achieve corporal union with Him as Saint Paul witnesses, when he says, referring to the mystery of the merciful love of the Lord: The mystery that was not made known to prior generations has now been revealed by the Spirit to the holy apostles and prophets: this is to say, that the gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body and coparticipants of the divine promises, in Christ Jesus.

And if we are for one another members of the same body in Christ, and not only between ourselves, but also for Whom is within us by His flesh: why then, do we not procure to live fully that union which exists between us and with Christ? In effect, Christ is the link of unity, since He is God and man at the same time.

Thus, in the same way that the virtuality of the sacred flesh converts those in whom it acts into members of the same body, I think that, in the same manner, the only and indivisible Spirit of God, by inhabiting in each one, links them all in spiritual unity.

This is why Saint Paul exhorts us also: mutually bear one another with love; endeavor to maintain the unity of the spirit, with the link of peace. One body and one Spirit, as it is only one objective of the hope found in the vocation to which you have been called. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God, Father of all, Who transcends all, penetrates all and overshadows all. By being in each one of us the One Spirit, so will also be, by the Son, the One and Only God and Father of all, uniting between Him and with Him all those who participate in the Spirit.

And the fact of our union and communication with the Holy Spirit is, in a certain way, made visible now and from this moment on. Since, if, casting aside our purely natural life, we submit once and for all, for ever, to the laws of the spirit, it is evident for us all that - by having left behind our prior life and now being united to the Holy Spirit and, by having acquired a celestial makeup and having been in a certain manner tansformed into a new being - we are no longer called simply men, but also children of God and celestial men, through our consortium with divine nature.

Thus, we are one thing in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; only one thing by the identity of our condition, by the assimiliation that love performs, by the communion of the sacred flesh of Christ and by the participation of the only and Holy Spirit.

PRAYER

LET US PRAY,
Lord, make your people live always in the joy of seeing the youth of its spirit renewed, and may the bliss of having restored the dignity of divine adoption, give them the firm hope of resucitating one day to true felicity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit and is God, for ever and ever.
Amen

OUR FATHER

Our Father, Who Art In Heaven
Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Liberate us from all temptation[*]
And deliver us from all evil. Amen

[*] Liberate us is in keeping with the original Latin text.
       God usually does not "lead us" to temptation
       (unless we are tested),
       but gives us the grace to overcome and/or resist it
X
HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art though among women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mary of God
Pray for us sinners
Now, and in the hour
Of our death. Amen

APOSTLE'S CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the
[work and grace of the] Holy Ghost,[*]
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into the Dead.[**]
On the third day, He rose again;
He ascended into Heaven,
And sits at the right hand of God,
the Father Almighty.
From thence he shall come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost,[*]
The Holy Catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins.
The resurrection of the body,
And life everlasting. Amen

[*] Holy Ghost: may be substituted with the current Holy Spirit.
[**] the Dead: "inferi", the underworld or the dead in Latin.
X
GLORIA

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost[*],
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

DE PROFUNDIS

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord:
Lord, hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplication.

If thou, O Lord, wilt mark iniquities:
Lord, who shall abide it.
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness:
and because of Thy law,
I have waited for Thee, O Lord.

My soul hath waited on His word:
my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
From the morning-watch even until night,
let Israel hope in the Lord.

For with the Lord there is mercy:
and with Him plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel
from all her iniquities.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost[*],
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

[*] Holy Ghost: may be substituted with the current Holy Spirit.

Let us pray:
O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all
the faithful, we beseech Thee to grant

of their sins, so that by our prayers
they may obtain pardon for which they long.
O Lord, who lives and reigns,

PADRE NUESTRO

Padre Nuestro,
que estas en los Cielos
Santificado sea Tu Nombre;
Venga a nosotros tu Reino;
Hágase Tu Voluntad
en la tierra como en el cielo.
Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;
Perdona nuestras ofensas,
Como también nosotros
perdonamos a los que nos ofenden,
No nos dejes caer en la tentación,
y líbranos del mal. Amén

Dios te salve, María,
llena eres de gracia;
El Señor es Contigo;
Bendita Tú eres
entre todas las mujeres,
Y bendito es el fruto
De tu vientre, Jesús.

Santa María,
Madre de Dios,
Ruega por nosotros
pecadores,
Ahora y en la hora
De nuestra muerte.

CREDO

Creo en Dios, Padre Todopoderoso,
Creador del cielo y de la tierra.
Creo en Jesucristo,
Su único Hijo, Nuestro Señor,
Que fue concebido por obra
y gracia del Espíritu Santo,
Nació de la Santa María Virgen;

escucha mi voz;
Estén Tus oidos atentos
a la voz de mi súplica.

Si llevas cuenta de los delitos, Señor,
¿quién podrá resistir?
Pero de ti procede el perdón,
y así infundes respeto.
Mi alma espera en el Señor.

Espera en su palabra;
mi alma aguarda al Señor,
más que el centinela la aurora.
Aguarda Israel al Señor.

Como el centinela la aurora;
porque del Señor viene la misericordia.
la redención copiosa;
y Él redimirá a Israel de todos sus delitos.

Gloria al Padre, al Hijo y al
Espíritu Santo,
como es desde el principio,
es ahora y será por los siglos de los siglos.
Amén
