O KEY OF DAVID, and Sceptre of the house of Israel,
that opens and no man shuts, and shuts and no man opens:
Come to liberate the prisoner from prison and those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.

Isaiah 45:8
Luke 1:28, 42
At the time when, without her noticing it, the embassy of Heaven drew nigh unto Her, She was engaged in the highest contemplation concerning the mysteries which the Lord had renewed in Her by so many favors during the nine preceding days. By being reassured by The Lord Himself that his Only begotten would soon descend to assume human form, the Great Queen was full of fervent and joyful in the faith of this fact and, renewing her humble and passionate affections, she spoke in her heart:
"Is it possible that the blessed time has arrived, in which the Word of the eternal Father is to be born and to converse with men? (Baruch 3, 38).

Who will have the world in his posession, who will make mortals see Him with eyes of flesh, who will birth that inaccessible light, to illumine those who are possessed by darkness?

O, who would deserve to see and know you! O, who will kiss the earth where you place your divine feet!

Rejoice, ye Heavens, and console thyself, O earth
(Ps. 95, 11); and may all eternally bless and worship him, since already his eternal happiness is near.

O children of Adam, afflicted by your culpability, and yet creatures of my Beloved, you will raise your heads and throw off the yoke of your ancient servitude!
(Is. 14, 25)

Your redemption is already at hand, now already comes your health. O, ye ancient Forefathers and Prophets, and all ye just, that are detained in limbo and are waiting in the bosom of Abraham, now your consolation will come and your much desired and long promised Redeemer shall tarry no longer! (Agg. 2, 8).

Let us all magnify Him and sing to Him hymns of praise! O who would be the slave of his slaves! O who would be slave of the one whom Isaias pointed out as his Mother! (Is. 7, 4);

O Emmanuel, true God and Man! O key of David, who art to unlock heaven! (Is. 22, 22). O eternal Wisdom! O Lawgiver of the new Church!

Come, come to us, O Lord, and liberate thy people of their captivity; let all flesh see thy Health!"
(Is. 40, 5).
In these petitions and aspirations, the most holy Mary was engaged at the hour when the holy angel Gabriel arrived. She was most pure in soul, most perfect in body, most noble in her sentiments, most exalted in sanctity, full of grace and so deified and pleasing in the sight of God, that She was fit to be his Mother and an instrument adapted for drawing Him from the bosom of the Father to her virginal womb.

She was the powerful means of our Redemption and to Her we owe it on many accounts. And therefore She deserves that all nations and generations bless and eternally praise Her. (Luke 1, 48).

Isaiah 7:14
When, as His mother, Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.

Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was to put her away privately.

But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying:
Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee
Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her,
is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son:
and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save
  his people from their sins.

Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth
a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.

And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
Matthew 1:18-24
Child Jesus, you who wished to be born poor
and in a stable in Bethlehem,
Make my heart your home this Christmas.
Take it and receive it, so that it may provide
hospitality to those born today in our
world under the same circumstances as
  you lived 2,000 years ago.
Give me your love and your grace,
and help me to be in solidarity with others,
especially those who need it the most. Amen
